Fairytales Are Back In Fashion

Our Wedding Part 2

Welcome back to our wedding debrief. I suppose I should have known that it would impossible put it all into one blog post, and if you’ve come back for the second instalment, thank you!

Anyone who knows me knows that I am passionate about flowers, and so it was never a question that flowers would play a bit part in the styling of our day. I stressed over the flowers for months. I saw so many beautiful things on wedding blogs and Pinterest, and yet nothing seemed to be the perfect fit. After seeing all my inspiration pictures, our wedding planner, Christie, suggested Davina of Fontana Floral. We ended up with a rambling fairy garden of the most fragrant roses and abundance of garden blooms, and I was blown away.

Our guests were greeted by our groomsmen and champagne in the garden, before taking their seats. One of the first things my Mum told me after we announced our engagement was that she would like to walk me down the aisle with my Dad. I absolutely loved this idea, and it was so glad that they were both with me in that moment.

Looking back on our wedding day, there were only very small things that could even be considered hiccups. The first was that poor Jarrad was getting a face full of sun during our ceremony (that handkerchief certainly came in handy), and the second was that I forgot to put my veil in! The funny thing is, I had initially not wanted one, but was swayed during the dress-making process. My dress didn’t have a train, and the veil was long and dramatic. It was pinned in at one point, but I took it out to make it easier to walk around, and completely forgot to put it back in.

Our wonderful celebrant, Aniella Batten, guided us through the ceremony. We had wanted the ceremony to be a highlight of the day, rather than just a precursor to the party, and Aniella made it so special with her personalised words. We had also written our own vows, and having Jarrad say his to me will be a memory I treasure forever.

Our mother’s were our witnesses for the signing of the marriage certificate, and then it was time to have our first kiss as husband and wife, and make our way back up the aisle to hug our family and friends.

Everyone filtered through the gates to enjoy canapés and drinks in the shadow of the villa, and we took off for some photos with our families and bridal party before dinner.

I was so excited to see our marquee come to life for our reception. Our wedding planner, Christie from Haus of Hera, is also the most amazing stylist, and together with Fontana Floral, she created a space that made us feel like we were dining amongst the flowers.

I’m going to leave with this batch of photos from our amazing photographer, Lena Lim Photography, and take you behind the scenes of our reception in Chapter 3 of Our Wedding.
